NSW: Part of man's ear bitten off during assault

SYDNEY, April 26 AAP - A man is undergoing surgery after a part of his ear was bitten
off during an assault in western Sydney.

A 60-year-old man was sitting in his parked car at Huntingwood when another man approached
and dragged him out of the vehicle about 3.30am (AEST) on Sunday, police said.

During a fight between them, the 60-year-old had the top part of his right ear bitten
off before being hit with an umbrella.

He fled the scene and drove to a police station to report the matter.

He was then taken to Westmead Hospital.

Police later attended a home in Erskine Park and arrested a 41-year-old Warwick Farm man.

He was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm and refused bail to
appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday.

Police conducted a search of several streets in Huntingwood but were unable to locate
the remains of the man's ear.
